The Valparaiso High School girls basketball team tipped off their 2012-13 season with a tight road win over the Kankakee Valley Kougars, 39-37 on Tuesday night.
Grace Withrow led all Vikings with 22 points on the day, also adding six steals in the process. Stephanie Parker and Kassie Feczko each added five points to the winning effort, with Parker's four rebounds leading the team. Andi Sarkisian led the team with three assists.
The Vikings will play a doubleheader this Saturday at Fishers High School with games against Fishers (11am) and Hamilton Southeastern (6pm).
