World-Class Trombone Player Performs at VHS

The Concert Association of Valparaiso held a concert on Saturday, December 11th, 2010 at the VHS Auditorium. Performances featured music from students as well as other orchestras conducted by Miguel Rosario, Assistant Director of Bands at VHS and Conductor of the Valparaiso Sinfonietta. Appearing as a special guest for the evening was Francisco J. Rosario-Vega, Miguel Rosario's brother who traveled all the way from Spain to perform for the event.

For the first three weeks of December, Francisco has been a guest during Miguel's band classes giving the students the chance to learn from the best of the best. Francisco has been a master trombone player for the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra of Spain since the spring of 1971 and is considered to be one of the finest trombone players in Europe. He held multiple solos throughout the evening along with the individual orchestras featured. Everyone, the band, Miguel Rosario, and the audience, enjoyed Francisco's skillful and elegant playing. The night was one of relaxation and appreciation for the talented musicians of Valparaiso High School and the Valparaiso community.

The next series of concerts will be featured in March 2011 with John Davidson, a television, Broadway, and film star, starting the series off at Munster High School on March 6th, 2011 at 7:30 pm. For additional information, please visit http://www.valpoconcerts.com.
