Write a Theme, Win a Prize

Write-a-ThemeWhat do you want for Christmas? Write a theme and tell the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority what you really want for Christmas, much like Ralphie Parker did in the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.” Ralphie pours his heart out in his theme for his teacher, Miss Shields, about how he wants a Red Ryder BB Gun.

Entries for the “What I Want For Christmas” Write a Theme Contest must be dropped off at the Indiana Welcome Center or mailed to “Write a Theme Contest, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond, Indiana, 46323” and must be postmarked by Dec. 11, 2013. Entries must include the entrant’s name, address, phone number and age category, and should be more than 20 words but not exceed 250.

There are three age categories: 9 years and younger, 10 – 18, and 19 and older. Winners in each category will win a prize valued from $50 - $150.

The Write a Theme Contest is part of the ongoing exhibit “A Christmas Story” Comes Home, which is presented in agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The exhibit features six animatronic window displays depicting scenes from the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.” The exhibit runs from Nov. 9, 2013 through Jan. 5, 2014.
