“Your Teen’s World: Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Like You’ve Never Seen”

family-youth-services-bureau-logoThe Family & Youth Services Bureau presents a Family Life Series Workshop, titled “Your Teen’s World: Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Like You’ve Never Seen” held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, at the FYSB office at 253 W. Lincolnway in downtown Valparaiso.

Community residents attending the workshop will become informed about media and pop-culture messages that are bombarding teens on sex, alcohol, drugs, and self-worth; discover popular technology in the teen world such as apps, social media, and the Internet; and learn how to become an informed adult of teenage culture and communication so that we can empower, encourage, and support youth in our community.

The workshop is led by Emily Aytes, MA, LSW, of the Family & Youth Services Bureau’s Clinical Services team providing individual, family, and group counseling services. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s & Gender Studies from DePaul University, and a Master’s of Arts Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago. Her clinical areas of expertise include: creative arts therapies; motivational interviewing; crisis-intervention; and grief and trauma counseling with children, teens, and adults.

The workshop is free and open to all community members. Seating is limited; please RSVP with your name and contact information by Monday, January 12 to 219-464-9585 or to kunderwood@fysb.org.
