Beginning to tomorrow morning, I’m running segment #14 of 19 in the MS Run the US Relay across the country from Santa Monica, California to New York, New York. Each runner is responsible for a segment covering 140-200 of the more than 3,000 total miles across the country. Today I moved into the camper where I’ll be staying for the next 5 nights. Starting tomorrow morning I’ll be running 29 miles a day for a total of 145 miles to cover my segment from Milwaukee to Valparaiso. We are doing this relay as a part in the battle against MS, a disease I suffer from as well. We’re bringing awareness to this debilitating autoimmune disease affecting more than 2million people as well as raising funds to aid people with MS in need of wheelchairs, ramps, and the like.
I will be completing my segment and passing the baton onto runner number 15 on July 17th in Valparaiso’s Central Park. Valparaiso’s Pour House, located across the street from the park, will be hosting a finish line celebration from 11am-2pm on the 17th with raffles and more. As a resident of Valparaiso, I’m especially excited to be running home! I hope you will be available to join in the celebration.
