Valpo Parks Take A Kid Fishing Derby

Join us for the 14th annual Take A Kid Fishing Derby, hosted by Valpo Parks in partnership with Friends of Fishing!

Event Details  

• Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025
• Time: 8 am - Noon, awards to follow
• Location: Rogers Lakewood Park 
• Fee: FREE, on-site registration day of event at Program Center

Kids 16 and under are welcome to participate. Enjoy a fun morning of fishing, food, and friendly competition! All participants will receive free hot dogs, chips, and drinks, and can compete in a Casting Contest and win prizes for 1st–10th Place Panfish (Bluegill, Redear, Crappie), as well as for the Biggest Catfish, Bass, and Walleye. Bait provided thanks to a generous donation from Slez's Bait Shop.

No fishing license needed – it’s DNR Free Fishing Day!

Free park entry at Rogers Lakewood for all participants.
