St. Catherine Hospital Earns Lakeshore Chamber Economic Development Award
St. Catherine Hospital has received the Economic Development Award from the City of East Chicago. East Chicago Mayor Anthony Copeland recognized the hospital for renovation and capital improvement projects that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to investing in building improvements and technology that advance the quality of healthcare in East Chicago and Northwest Indiana. This is the second consecutive year that St. Catherine Hospital has received the Economic Development Award.
“We are honored to receive the award that reflects appreciation of our commitment to always give our best to our patients, staff, doctors and the communities we serve,” said Leo Correa, chief executive officer, St. Catherine Hospital. “These projects reinforce our dedication and that of Community Healthcare System to provide the highest levels of healthcare services possible in a comfortable setting.”
Construction projects completed by St. Catherine Hospital in 2016 include:
- Redesign of the Intensive Care unit
- Emergency department expansion with a second triage room, private consultation suite and enhanced reception area
- Façade refurbishment off the south entrance
Weeks ago, St. Catherine Hospital finished relocation of the anticoagulation clinic to an expanded Outpatient Retail Pharmacy. These projects, representing an investment of more than $5 million, created roughly 100 construction-related jobs and dozens of new healthcare career opportunities.
