Reds, Whites and Blues
The Porter County Chapter of the American Red Cross is having their signature fundraiser Saturday, April 4. The Charity Tasting Event, "Reds, Whites and Blues 2", will be great fun for a good cause! The event will be held at the Old Town Banquet Center, 711 Calumet Avenue from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross of Porter County, 755 W. Lincolnway.
Advance tickets are available for $35.00 at Triangle Liquor (219-477-4849), Trail End Liquor (219-462-1482) or Porter County American Red Cross (219-462-8543 ext 505). Tickets are also available at the door for $50.00, and online at portercountyredcross.org.
Most people realize how important our local Red Cross is to our community, but what probably isn't so well known is that they raise all of their funds locally and receive no money from the national office.
Here are just a few of the things they do for our community:
- Provide food, shelter and resources for victims of local disasters
- Provide food, assistance and support to local firefighters and emergency medical personnel on scene
- Provide emergency communication services between families and local members of the armed forces
- Provide assistance at local blood drives
- Provide health & safety and disaster preparedness training
- Disaster Preparedness - Working with each of the Porter County communities individually to help prevent, prepare and respond to local disasters, large and small
- And so much more!!!
