CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana expands commercial division under new leadership

Always looking to support more customers, CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana recently promoted Mark Powers to Vice President of Operations to do just that. 

Beginning in December 2024, Powers accepted the role of Vice President after more than 25 years of experience in production, sales, and commercial account management. Powers is stepping into this leadership position with a clear vision for growth and innovation.

"In the Vice President of Operations role, I’m still doing a lot of what I was doing in the past but now taking full control over the commercial division while also coaching and leading our residential and administrative sides of the business,” said Powers.

CertaPro is built on a structured approach that ensures every client receives consistent, professional results–a system that Powers plans to continue and expand. 

"Everything goes back to our Certainty Service System," Power said. "It's not just about hiring professional painters. It’s about ensuring that every customer—residential or commercial—gets the same attention to detail from everyone, from the sales associate to the job site supervisor and account manager."

One of Power’s top priorities is expanding CertaPro’s commercial services.

“We’re focusing on account development—building relationships, understanding what our clients need now and, in the future, and helping them budget for projects over multiple years,” said Powers.

Powers is also deeply committed to upholding CertaPro’s core values of respect, integrity, and practicing continuous improvement. 

"We do what we say we’re going to do,” said Powers. “We’re always learning and improving based on internal measurement and customer feedback."

Beyond his professional goals, Powers is a devoted family man. He and his wife Dawn are approaching their 20th anniversary, and together they have two children Sean and Alexis and a dog, Bella. 

When Powers has free time he enjoys golfing, especially during trips to Arizona. 

"We go to Arizona three or four times a year," he said. "It’s a great way to escape the Midwest winters and get a head start on golf season."

Powers also values the close-knit community in Northwest Indiana. 

"We try to be as active in the community as possible," Powers said. “We live here, work here, and play here, and that makes the relationships even more meaningful."

With a strong team, a commitment to excellence, and a vision for growth, Powers is confident that CertaPro will continue to thrive. 

"Our goal is to make sure customers only have to tell their story once," Powers said. "We have a system in place to ensure a seamless experience from start to finish."
