For the week of May 15, 2012, the Valparaiso High School baseball team jumped from sixth to fifth in Northwest Indiana, leapfrogging the Chesterton Trojans in the Region Sports Networks’ weekly rankings of area baseball teams.

5. Valparaiso Vikings (17-9; Last Week: #6)
With four wins last week, Valpo looks to be building some momentum heading into sectional play. That momentum was built with victories against Chesterton, NorthWood, Culver and Lowell last week. The Vikings have potential playoff opponents Portage and Crown Point on the docket this week. A win in one of those will give the Vikings a big boost heading into the tournament.
