First Friday at LCA: Performance by Für Sermon and opening reception of Pipelines and Borderlines 
Für Sermon will perform at Lubeznik Center for the Arts during First Friday. They are described as an eccentric mix of coffee shop acoustic classics with an electric push. Performance will begin at 5:30. Between sets walk down stairs for an opening reception for Pipelines & Borderlines in the NIPSCO Education Studios

"Henry and Ramona" Takes Audiences to a Simpler Time 
March 6th through 14th Chicago Street Theatre invites audiences of all ages to join them to step back in time to take a trip down Klickitat Street with the heroes of Beverly Cleary's popular Newbery Award-winning book series- Henry and Ramona. The play, faithfully adapted by Cynthia J. McGean is based on several of the books depicting life in the author's home town of Portland, Oregon during the 1950's. Chicago Street is delighted to bring the adventures of Cleary's characters: Henry Huggins, his dog Ribsy, Ramona Quimby "The Pest" and her long-suffering sister Beezus to life for this limited two week engagement.

Mental Health America Presents “Treasures of the Past” - Antique and Collectibles Show 
On Saturday, March 7 from 9-4 and Sunday, March 8 from 10 -4 the Porter County Expo Center will be transformed into a treasure trove of antiques and collectibles. Admission is $4 (12 and under free), “Over 60 dealers with unsurpassed quality, there is something for every age, taste and pocketbook make this a must attend,” says Hodson.

ArctiCon 2015 - Gaming for Charity and Community! 
ArctiCon: Year 5 is just around the corner! Building upon success of past conventions, hosting organizers the Eidolon Syndicate, has put together the largest convention yet, to be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. at the Harre Union at Valparaiso University. Hundreds of people from throughout Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois and beyond are expected to gather for a day packed with gaming of all different types.

Join South Shore Roller Girls for their 2015 Season Home Opener 
After a successful inaugural 2014 roller derby season, South Shore Roller Girls (SSRG) are back, bigger and better than ever! They are bringing the fast-paced hard-hitting flat track action to Hammond with the 2015 season home opener against Twin City Derby Girls from Campaign-Urbana, Illinois taking place on March 7, 2015. Bring your family and friends to watch the toughest ladies on 8 wheels battle it out at Jean Shepherd Center. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Chasing Dreams in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show in NWI! 
Help Me Mommy's show includes the original uncut movie, a full shadow cast, and audience participation is encouraged. The film itself is a lot of fun -- but the audience-participation phenomenon has turned it into a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience that can't be ignored! Help Me Mommy lives by one simple phrase that continues to guide us into great adventures: "Don't Dream It, Be It!" The show runs every Saturday at midnight. Tickets are $8 at the door, and the cast sells "survival kits" for $2. Included are various props that are used to interact with the cast and movie. PNC, Partners Presents Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, March 8 
Purdue University North Central Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series, with the Michigan City Public Library and the Irving Levin Jewish Cultural Fund of Sinai Temple, will present a Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, March 8 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. Fourth St. in Michigan City. The film festival is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be enjoyed during a coffee klatch and cake break.

Culinary Chaos to Ensue in Cooking with Thor & Local Chefs Competition 
Twelve teams, two cooking challenges, and the taste buds of local fourth graders. Who will win in the end? Get ready for some culinary chaos and lots of fun for the whole family, with the first-ever Cooking with Thor & Local Chefs competition. The community is invited to this free event from 2-4:30, March 8 at the La Porte High School Cafeteria, 602 F Street, La Porte. Thor Thordarson, president and CEO of Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital, and other local business leaders are pairing up with mentor chefs from our community’s most popular eateries to form this unique cooking challenge.

Dakota Wesleyan University Highlanders and Wesleyan Bells Present Free Concert 
Dakota Wesleyan University, of Mitchell, S.D., will present a free concert on Sunday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. at €Dyer United Methodist Church, 2016 Church St., Dyer, Indiana. The DWU Highlanders Choral Ensemble and Wesleyan Bells are on tour this spring. Community Outreach Chairman at Dyer United Methodist Church, Donna George, said that one of the music directors on this tour is Lake Central graduate Erin (Stinson) Desmond of Schererville, Ind.
