Dennis Zborowski, long-time director of finance for Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County, is turning the page in his book to a new chapter of his life – retirement! Zborowski served then years as the organization’s director of finance and was responsible for account payables, budgeting, grant tracking, benefits, payroll, and leading the Board driven Finance Committee.
When asked what he most liked about working for the Boys & Girls Clubs, Zborowski states, “Knowing that even though I did not have much daily contact with our Club members, I still felt like my work was contributing to and enabling youth to enjoy and prosper by participating in all our Clubs’ programs and activities.”
One of his fondest memories working at the Club was before Valparaiso Community Schools moved to all day kindergarten and our Clubs offered Kidstop Kindergarten and during the Halloween season – young Club members would dress up in their costumes and showcase them at the Club. “Our Kidstop directors would bring all the kindergarten children, dressed in their costumes, down to our Administrative Offices to trick or treat. It was so great to see all the kids dressed up and excited – and to talk to them about their excitement!,” states Zborowski.
Zborowski will miss his co-workers and and working with Board members – but plans to stay involved and connected by volunteering at the organization’s annual golf outing held in July of each year.
“I am truly thankful for the opportunity that was given to me by Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and for the many wonderful experiences I was able to enjoy and participate in during my ten-year tenure. I wish the Clubs best of luck and continued great success in the future,” states Zborowski.
Dennis and his wife Patty plan on spending much time on their boat, and look forward to hearing Boys & Girls Clubs stories from their son, Scott, who works at the Duneland Club location.
