Officer Aussie Thompson, Indiana State Excise Police, will be our guest speaker at the July 8, 2015 luncheon.
Officer Aussie Thompson has been a police officer with the Indiana State Excise Police since January 2006. She completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield in July 2006. Officer Thompson's district is district One, and that office is in Bristol, located in Elkhart County.
Officer Thompson will discuss what the Indiana State Excise Police does for the State of Indiana as well as what the duties, goals, and plans for the future are. The main goal for the Indiana State Excise Police is to inform the public who they are and to understand the course of their duties.
An excise tax is a tax directly levied on certain goods by a state or federal government. The most prominent excise taxes collected by the Indiana state government are the fuel tax on gasoline and the so-called "sin tax" collected on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages.

The luncheon will take place on July 8th at the Hobart Community Center, 111 East Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Networking begins at 11:30 and lunch is served promptly at noon.
