Snowball Relays:
The Snowball relays take place every year the day before Christmas break. The whole high school gathers in the gym and are divided by year (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior). The Student Council then takes charge by holding several different games that each grade competes in to earn points. Games this year included musical chairs, Christmas trivia, and even Gingerbread house building. This takes place during the last hour of the day and ends the day with a great Christmas feel to start break!

This benefit was created in an effort to raise $7,000 to provide 2,000 people with clean water. With a four-course meal, a guest speaker, and musical entertainment that won over the crowd, I don’t know how the night could’ve gone any better. Shout-out to Kelley Hershberger who put hard work into this dinner! It couldn’t be possible without this driven, dedicated girl who put her heart into this cause. Thanks, Kelley!

WWFA Benefit Dinner:
The Water Wells for Africa Benefit Dinner began at 6:30 on December 17th, but Kouts and Chesterton volunteers began work as early as 4 o’clock. As volunteers prepared and set up the tables with beautiful red and white decorations, patrons came from far and wide and filled almost every seat in the house.

Language Teachers Shout-out:
I want to give a special shout-out to the Language teachers who took their time to set aside and prepare Christmas songs to go caroling throughout the school. Every year, Mrs. Calvert, the German Teacher, and Senora Angeles, the Spanish teacher, gather foreign Christmas classics to sing for selected classrooms who sign up to listen. With classic Spanish songs like Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, and German songs like Kling Gluckchen and O Tanenbaum, the school became chipper with foreign language Christmas cheer! Thank you both for your dedication to your languages and to your students!

Student Shout-out: Bella Wireman:
Bella Wireman has had basketball in her blood since she was fairly young. With potential that grew into record-breaking accomplishments, Bella has added another title to her basketball career. Bella Wireman broke Becky (Jesse) Harper’s record for most 3-pointers in a whole career. Becky made a total of 163 3-pointers for her career and Bella managed to hit her 164th 3-pointer on Monday, December 14th. Bella’s score will continue to blossom as the season goes on. Congratulations to Bella Wireman, the Queen of the Three Point Shot!
