Hunt the Wolves:
To quote a brilliant man by the name of Robin Williams, “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” And change is something that Bailie Frazier, Truitt Anweiler, and Hanna Freeland had in mind.

Pep Block had seemed to fall rather flat- Black and Gold, Hawaiian Night- boring, generic themes that made Pep Block seem- well, ehh. That’s when an idea sparked. The Mustangs were battling for the keg and Boone Grove had it. So, Bailie proposed an idea. What if we had a different theme for the game against Boone? Camo. Something you wear while hunting. We were going to hunt the wolves! With flyers, snapchat, and tweets, the news soon spread like wildfire.

“Are you going to the game?”

“Hey, you’re going to the game, right?”

“Went out and bought camo for the game!”

It was a whirlwind of school spirit and finally the night came. People were pumped and man did the Pep Block explode! It was the JV game and the bleachers were already full. By the time the Varsity took the court, the Pep Block was elbow-to-elbow. Decked out in camo, the students led cheers, chants, and stood on their toes as the Mustangs battled hard for the keg.

Unfortunately, the wolves got away without a scratch and the hunt was a fail, but not completely. The Pep Block theme was a great success and the student body couldn’t wait to do it again. Special Shout-out to Bailie Frazier who all the posters, hung them, and rallied everybody together for a really awesome night!

Rube Goldberg:
The Rube Goldberg team headed their way up to Purdue University on February 20th to compete in the 2016 Regional competition. The spunky Kouts team’s first run was a great success and had no interventions. The second, however, only had one. But, of all the teams in the competition, even the college teams, Kouts was the ONLY team to have no interventions in the first run.

This gave them a leg up in the competition and enough to win them first place! This year’s goal for the machine was that the machine must be able to open an umbrella because you guessed it! The theme was “Rainy Day”! For this task to be completed, the team’s machine used up to 44 steps!

The next competition will be Nationals during April! Big shout-out and congratulations to Travis Brubaker, Lukas Mergenthaler, Kyle Mergenthaler, Kyer Knifel, Cole Vick, Tristan Lane, Ian Garavalia, John Wehner, Alex Gurekovich, Brendan Ready, and Malachi Wittmer. Good luck at Nationals, boys!
