$2,000 Proceeds From 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Donated to Assist PNW Students

PNW-Inaugural-Pride-Classic-2017_01The MC Pride won the recent PNW Pride Classic 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, which raised $2,000 for the Purdue University Northwest Dean of Students Gift Fund.

Members of the champion MC Pride were Ashanti Clark, Deandre Eckwood, Marquise Burks, Sheree Knight and Isaac Moore, all from Michigan City.

The Dean of Students Gift Fund helps defray expenses of such immediate student needs as a text book, a campus meal ticket and emergency housing. Dollars raised from the tournament also will help fund outreach efforts of the PNW Dean of Students Office to expand student awareness of specific services available on both campuses

Twenty teams comprised of PNW students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members, including the Michigan City Police Department, competed in the tournament, which took place in the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex on PNW’s Westville Campus.

PNW-Inaugural-Pride-Classic-2017_02Event coordinator Erika Lubeznik, PNW manager of Alumni Affairs, expressed her pleasure with the tournament’s wide support, “This event was a huge success and is such a great way to get community members into our new Kesling Gymnasium on the Westville Campus.”
