Porter County Parks & Recreation was pleased to welcome volunteers from Swartz, Retson & Co. Certified Accountants to Sunset Hill Farm Park on Friday, September 29, 2017 for a Day of Service. These volunteers worked to clear invasive plants from the natural prairie and plant beneficial trees around the pond. Greg Ward, Principal at Swartz, Retson & Co. said “Our firm likes to volunteer as a way to give back to the community. We choose Porter County Parks and Recreation since it has great facilities like Sunset Hill Farm that many of us use and want keep nice for years to come.”
Porter County Parks & Recreation is fortunate to have nearly 200 volunteers of all ages help out at the parks throughout the year. Whether working on restoring the prairie and pond, building new amenities, teaching classes, installing features in the natural playground, or helping out at events like Day of Caring, Spring Out to Sunset, and the Winter Lights Night Festival, these volunteers are crucial to helping keep the parks running well and looking good.
