The Opportunity Enterprises Respite Services program will open the doors to its new Respite Home on Thursday, July 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an open house. This open house will provide a chance for the community to see a new offering from OE that is completely unique to the area and provides a valuable service to the families of individuals with disabilities.
Parents and caregivers get the chance to have time for themselves, while allowing the individual for whom they care the opportunity to go out into the community, socialize and partake in activities independently.
The Respite Home, located at 478 High Meadow Circle in Jackson Township, adds a new dimension to OE. Families and caregivers can take a full vacation, or enjoy a weekend getaway, and feel confident that their loved one is in good hands. The home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a pool, and can be staffed by Direct Service Professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The home can serve up to seven individuals overnight and up to 15 individuals at one time.
“It’s a safe place where parents can feel assured that their son or daughter is in a healthy and fun environment,” Respite Services Supervisor Josh Bougie said. “A lot of people are excited to have it as an option.”
OE is currently hosting a virtual housewarming at myregistry.com as well. The wish list registry has been compiled in order to furnish the home. Those who wish to donate can go to the Web site, select “organization” in the top left corner of the home page, and type in Opportunity Enterprises. This will lead to the registry.
