Come Celebrate at the Mayor’s Charity Ball: A Jewel of a Downtown

Next Friday, September 18, the community of Valparaiso will gather to celebrate at The Mayor’s Charity Ball.   The Ball will be held from 6-11 p.m. in an elegant tent directly behind City Hall in Valparaiso.  The entrance will be at Lincolnway and Napoleon Streets.

Reservations are being taken now for an evening of celebration of Valparaiso and of the non-profit organizations helped annually by this event.   This year’s charities include Boys and Girls Clubs of Porter County, Frontline Foundations (a substance abuse recovery support program for young men and women ages 18-25), Nexus (a mentoring program connecting youth with opportunities for grades 8-12), and Porter County Aging and Community Services.  Each charity will have time during the evening to speak about its purpose and to address how the additional funding from this event will benefit their efforts.

This semi-formal evening will feature City Hall as the backdrop and a beautifully canopied and tented area for the entire dining, dancing and Bistro Bar ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of those attending.  Dinner will feature a menu of global tastes by Pikk’s and The Jeff Brown Orchestra will entertain throughout the evening. Tickets are $125 per person and sponsorships are still available.  Reservations may be made by contacting Lori Good at 548-4822.

A Jewel of a Downtown is the theme for this year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball and, as a special feature for the Ball, Martin Binder Jewelers has designed and created a custom piece to be awarded to the winning ticket holder on the night of the Ball.

The piece, a Sterling Silver Necklace with a Green and Gold Bi-Color Quartz Center and Brilliant Cut Diamond Accents on a 16” Omega, has a value of $650 and may be viewed at Martin Binder Jewelers. Also donated for the Drawing is a Framed Original Valparaiso Streetscape by Aran Kessler.  This is the same downtown Valparaiso night scene that is on this year’s Mayor’s Ball invitation.

Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.  The cost is $25 each or 5 tickets for $100 and are available for sale now.  Ticket holders need not be present at the Ball to win.  All proceeds of the Drawing sales will be given to the charities.

The necklace may be viewed and tickets may be purchased at Martin Binder Jewelers.  Tickets may also be purchased from Lori Good at City Hall, or from Mayor’s Ball Committee Members Judy Back, Pat Blanco, Susan Brychell, Dorian Bush, Betsy Cuellar, Christian Hanna, Tracey Pappas, Leslie Plesac, and Nicole Williams.
