One of the most common sights on the Region’s roads are the super-sized trucks, pickups, and vans that carry some of the most important workers around. Towing companies, construction crews, landscapers, tree removal experts, emergency medical workers and more rely on fleets of well-maintained trucks and vans to carry out their jobs, but standard auto repair centers are not equipped to handle their needs.
Currie Motors Ford of Valpo saw that businesses across the Region were taking their trucks to get serviced out of the area because they could not find anyone to help them in Northwest Indiana. They stepped up to help and recently completed an expansion that includes a full-scale Commercial Medium Duty Truck Service Center that accommodates up to F-650/F750 trucks.
“A lot of facilities just don’t accommodate those big trucks,” said Mark Benakovich, Service and Parts Director at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. “I’m really excited, because a lot of local businesses were going other places to get their trucks serviced. Not only is our new center more convenient for them, it’s keeping that business here in Valparaiso.”
“It’s a huge expansion for us,” Benakovich said. “We started planning this almost two and a half years ago.”
It didn’t take long for word to spread around Northwest Indiana about how well equipped the team at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo is now.
“It’s getting busier and busier every day,” Benakovich said.
Ford models are popular among commercial truck fleets, and Benakovich noted that has a big role in their popularity.
“People sometimes want to give some of the independent repair shops a chance, but at the end of the day I think they’re more comfortable coming to a Ford store,” he said. “They know we have the proper tools and technicians that are trained to complete these types of repairs.”
But Currie Motors Ford of Valpo’s service center handles more than just Fords.
“We do work on any make or model,” Benakovich said. “If they’re not under warranty and they’re not a Ford, we can look at that as well.”
