UPDATE: The South Shore Line announces additional westbound capacity and extra eastbound trains will be offered Saturday, July 31, to help accommodate an anticipated increase in passengers attending Lollapalooza.
- Westbound Train 606 (departing Carroll Ave. @ 9:27a CT) and Train 506 (departing South Bend @ 1:05p ET) will operate Extras west of Portage/Ogden Dunes for additional capacity to accommodate passengers heading to Chicago. Passengers headed to Chicago are encouraged to utilize these trains to take advantage of the additional space.
- An eastbound Extra train will depart Millennium Station at 6:00 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 6:03 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue, Michigan City. The eastbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
- An eastbound Extra train will depart Millennium Station at 10:50 p.m. (Van Buren St. at 10:53 p.m.), run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue, Michigan City. The eastbound Extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
MASK REQUIREMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH 9/13/21: Per federal orders, the SSL continues to require masks in all SSL stations and onboard trains throughout Indiana and Illinois. This order is in effect regardless of vaccination status. Passengers who do not comply with the mask mandate will be subject to removal from trains. Certain passengers are exempt from the mask mandate, including passengers with medical/health issues and children under the age of 2. Alcohol is prohibited on South Shore trains all day Saturday and Sunday. Please be advised that glass bottles are always prohibited.
