A familiar face in the Valparaiso University Department of Athletics both as a student-athlete and as a compliance intern, Brittany Anderson has joined the department in a full-time capacity. She has assumed Director of Compliance responsibilities, as announced by Executive Associate Athletic Director Sarah Pruess.
“I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the opportunity I have to carry on my journey at Valpo,” Anderson said. “I am excited to continue my personal and professional development at the place I have now been able to call ‘home’ for the last five years.”
Anderson earned her undergraduate degree from Valpo in sport management and business administration in December 2020 before going on to complete her master’s in sports administration in May 2022. The East Chicago, Ind. native and Bishop Noll High School graduate held the rare distinction of being a two-sport athlete in volleyball and softball at the Division-I level. She was a team captain in volleyball from 2019-2021, helping lead the program as it continued its tradition of success including a run to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) title match in the fall of 2021. Anderson was a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention before earning MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team status in 2021.
Prior to being elevated to a full-time capacity, Anderson spent a year as a compliance intern at Valpo. During her time on campus, she has also gained experience as an esports intern, Kinesiology Department intern and as part of the Valpo Athletics event staff. Anderson’s other experiences include volunteering with the Lutheran Basketball Association of America (LBAA), serving as a summer camp counselor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), going on a volleyball mission trip to Costa Rica, serving on the Valparaiso University Presidential Search Committee and completing an internship with the Southern Illinois University Athletic Director.
Anderson has also served as Student Alumni Association treasurer and secretary, as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative and as a member of Student-Athlete Allies Group.
“We’re
thrilled to have Brittany continue to impact Valpo Athletics as she joins our
department in a full-time role,” Pruess said. “She has a thorough understanding
of the Valpo student-athlete experience from her time as a two-sport athlete in
volleyball and softball. She has proven to be a valuable member of our
compliance office over the last year, and we’re excited to see her continued
growth as she assumes Director of Compliance responsibilities.”
