Crown Point Welcomes Newest Police Officer

Today, Mayor Pete Land swore in the newest Crown Point police officer during the Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting.

Cody Piet, badge No. 125, was hired to fill the vacancy left by Cpl. Mile Knezevic, who retired earlier this year.

Piet is a 2013 graduate of Crown Point High School. After high school, Piet enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in an infantry unit.

Piet holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Northwest. He is a graduate of the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Class No. 22-48.

He is the second police officer hired in 2023, bringing the department to 50 full-time, sworn officers.

“We are excited to have Cody join our growing police department family. He will be a great asset to our force,” Crown Point Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick said.
