Dancing and costumes abound at Journeyman’s Halloween Dance Party 2023

Dancing, costumes, and oh-so-much fun was abound at the Journeyman Distillery’s Halloween Dance Party. On Saturday, October 28, Journeyman Distillery hosted a dance party to give the community a fun night as Halloween fast approaches. It was an excellent excuse for people to coordinate fun costumes with their friends and enjoy a fun night out.

“One of the things that we're really good at is creating environments and experiences,” said David Regan, Retail and Public Programs Manager at Journeyman. “We want to create those types of environments that engage customers, so with this party in Valparaiso you're going to have whimsical skeletons all over the warehouse floor and some animation.”

Just two weeks ago, Journeyman opened up their brand new location in Valparaiso. Using inspiration from its Three Oaks location, Journeyman gave partygoers a great opportunity to get to see ‘The American Factory’ space. The atmosphere was also excellent with cocktails, DJ music, and a grand light display.

“We've been doing the Halloween dance party up in Three Oaks for a number of years,” said Regan. “When working on programming for the Valparaiso location, we decided that we would bring it over here as well.”

Over 400 people came together to have fun while dancing to popular hits like ‘Y.M.C.A.’ by Village People. When planning events like the dance party, Journeyman made sure to incorporate a unique flair to the new location.

“We know that Valparaiso is a music-loving community, so we're going to be heavily programmed with music,” said Regan. “We also took into consideration what worked well in Three Oaks. That's how we brought the Halloween dance party over to the Valparaiso location.”

To bring out everyone’s creative flair, Journeyman also gave out gift cards to the top three best costume winners. There were winners of a $100, $200, and $300 gift card that could be used across any of Journeyman’s properties.

"We always look forward to seeing what kind of creative inspiration people bring to these types of contests,” said Regan. “We saw all sorts of handmade things or store-bought costumes, but it's really a nice way for people to get creative and celebrate the season.”

Community, especially Valparaiso, is an important core of what Journeyman is about. Saturday’s event excelled at bringing the community together for a fun event at the new spot in town.

“The properties that we're in are in community-focused locations, and we really want to bring the community together through different events,” said Regan. “We want to show our support for the community and be involved and create new experiences for people who maybe haven't experienced Journeyman.”

It has been full circle for Journeyman’s founder, Bill Welter, who is from Valparaiso. If Saturday’s event was any indicator, everyone is excited that he brought Journeyman to Valparaiso.

“We're just really excited to be in Valparaiso, the home of the Walter family,” said Regan. “It's great for us to be in Valparaiso and to create a community while distilling great spirits.”
