After 10 years of working at Oak Partners, Wealth Advisor Stacey Fargo has been recognized as a Rising Star by the Rising Star Women Advisor program. While she has worked in the financial services industry for her entire career, she did not begin working at Oak Partners until her husband’s cousin, Partner & Wealth Advisor Mike Barancyk AIF®, reached out to her about a job opening.
Seven years after she seized the opportunity to work at Oak Partners, Fargo began running her own team—the first woman-led team—which she has now managed for just shy of three years. She believes she was well-equipped to manage her own team after her first seven years at Oak Partners, and doing so meant being able to combine two of her passions: numbers and education.
“I've always been a numbers person, so that was a natural transition for me. If I wasn't going to do something related to numbers, I always wanted to teach,” Fargo said. “This business allows me to understand the number side and teach about really interesting things. I help guide people to their lifelong goals, and it’s exciting to see those plans come to fruition over time.”
While Fargo felt capable of leading her own team, she never thought she would be recognized by the Rising Star Women Advisor program for her work, especially not after only three years in her position.
“To get to this point in three years is priceless,” Fargo said. “It has been a very humbling experience because I would have never thought that my practice would have grown this much in three years or that I would be recognized as one of only 20 recipients. It has elevated my goals for the future of where I could go in the next three to five years.”
Fargo was officially recognized as a Rising Star at the LPL Financial Achieve: Women’s Leadership Forum 2023 in San Francisco, which is a leadership conference for women advisors. The conference is available by invitation only with about 250 women attending each year, and Fargo appreciated that the conference was small enough that she could connect in a more personal way than a larger conference. This was her favorite learning conference she has attended as she was able to gain new insights, make new connections, and explore a new city.
“They have connected the Rising Stars with a direct mentor, another top-ranking advisor, which is another perk that I think will be extremely valuable in the future,” Fargo said.
Fargo firmly believes that a lot of her success boils down to the support she has in her co-workers. She would like to thank her assistant, LPL Registered Administrative Associate Stephanie Hescher, who enables her to do what she does best, and Oak Partners Client Support Specialist Sue Shoemaker, who was a big help to Fargo throughout her career.
