Renovations are complete on a project bringing enhanced technology and comfort to a unit at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago.
The $3.2 million investment into 5 West, a medical-surgical unit, includes the implementation of Philips IntelliVue technology, which is capable of monitoring telemetry on the unit. Telemetry technology allows continuous cardiac observation of patients.
All patient rooms and restrooms on the unit were fully renovated, as were hallways, public restrooms, offices, the nutrition room and the staff lounge. The unit features new signs and new furniture, such as recliners for patients’ rooms and task chairs for staff.
“Powers Health devoted resources to this project to ensure the technology and furnishings align with the high quality of care our staff delivers at St. Catherine Hospital,” said Leo Correa, CEO of St. Catherine Hospital. “Comfortable surroundings lead to a better experience for patients and staff.”
St. Catherine Hospital is nationally recognized for its outstanding quality of care through a range of inpatient and outpatient programs and specialties.
