The month of October marks the 10-year anniversary of ValPLAYso, a beloved community park that embodies the spirit of collaboration and community. In 2014, community members rallied together to rebuild this beloved space, originally designed with input from local schoolchildren.
Funded by generous donations from community members and local businesses, and constructed by nearly 3,000 volunteers, ValPLAYso stands as a symbol of volunteerism and collaboration.
"ValPLAYso is a wonderful example of connecting the past with the future," said Kevin Nuppnau, Director of Valpo Parks. "While we cherish the nostalgia associated with the original park, we are committed to improving and maintaining ValPLAYso for generations to come."
To celebrate this milestone, ValPLAYso has undergone several recent enhancements, including:
• Replacement of the ADA play surface
• Replacement of three slides
• Upgrades to the zipline
• Fresh paint on key playground features
• Renovated restrooms
Today, ValPLAYso continues to be a vibrant hub of activity, offering a safe and fun environment for children to play, learn, and grow. It serves as a testament to the power of community and the enduring spirit of Valparaiso.
