Memorial Opera House Foundation, in partnership with The Penguin Project®, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing theatrical opportunities for differently-abled individuals, is pleased to announce their next fully-inclusive production at Memorial Opera House— the premier performance of Memorial Opera House Foundation’s new Penguin program, The Penguin Players.
The Penguin Project®sets the stage for fun and acceptance for the families of individuals with different abilities while The Penguin Players expands these opportunities to performers aged 18+. Each artist is partnered with a peer mentor, who assists them throughout the rehearsal process and will be performing alongside their artists.
Alexandria Ingram and Georgie Owens, as well as a talented crew of choreographers, vocal specialists, behavioral specialists, and more, have been working hard to prepare their artists for these performances.
This January, join The Penguin Players for their dazzling 2025 production, Hollywood Through the Ages—a star-studded cabaret that shines a spotlight on the timeless songs from Hollywood's most iconic films.
The Penguin Players and The Penguin Project®, unique community theatre programs, have brought together talented artists with developmental disabilities and their peer mentors to perform in inclusive, inspiring productions. In Hollywood Through the Ages, artists with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, and other developmental or neurological differences take center stage, showcasing their talents alongside peer mentors who volunteer to support and collaborate with them.
This celebration of song, dance, and the magic of film features award-winning hits from beloved Hollywood classics such as "Jeepers Creepers," "I'm Just Ken," and "This Is Me." Together, the cast and crew will transport you through decades of glitz, glamour, and unforgettable melodies—proving that everyone deserves a moment in the spotlight.
Hollywood Through the Ages is more than just a show—it's a powerful reminder that disabilities do not define potential, and that theater is for everyone. Come be a part of this heartwarming celebration of diversity, creativity, and the joy of performance. You won’t want to miss this unforgettable evening of glitz, glamour, and star-studded fun!
