The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Memorial Opera House – Feb 16-18
Valparaiso’s Historical Memorial Opera House has completed it’s second week of rehearsals for the Region Premiere of Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” musical. Memorial Opera House is so excited to have such an energetic, talented, and amazing group of actors attached to this production!
Music Heritage Series -Feb 16
Come out for a night of tradiational music and singing at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Visitor Center. The Save the Tunes Council is a group of local musicians devoted to preserving and passing on folk songs in the traditional way, using a variety of musical instruments including guitar, autoharp, dulcimer, banjo, harmonica, bagpipe, penny whistle, hurdy gurdy, and other obscure instruments.
World Premiere at Footlight: “Fan Mail” – Feb 17 – 18
For two days only, the Footlight Players will be producing the world premiere of the thriller, “Fan Mail”, written and directed by Michigan City’s own Robert W. Komendera. The story centers on an accomplished Broadway star, Gayle Hart (Laura Meyer) and her biggest fan, Lawrence Biggs (Alexander Bonner). While Gayle is busy in rehearsals for her new show she is bombarded with fan mail from her ardent and obsessive fan. Her secretary, Eve Singleton (Emma Blanchard), her lovable ex-husband, Mike (Thom Nelson) and friends, Celeste (Bobbi-Ann Lauritsen) and Paul (Joe Blanchard) round out the cast.
Celebrate ‘Da Region at 219 Day – Feb 17
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the 219 Day Committee invite all Region residents over 21 years of age to join us for the fun, weird and wacky event that celebrates everything Region, 219 Day. The 219 Day is at the Hammond Civic Center on Saturday, February 17 from 6:00 to 11:00 pm. This year, the event’s theme is “Feats of Strength”. There will be a Gladiator Joust, Punching Arcade, Thumb Wrestling, Tattoo Contest, Climbing Wall, Selfie Booth, Region Rat Piñata and more. The event is free admission.
Shelf Ice Brewfest 2018 – Feb 17
Amazing winter beer fest held outside in the Uptown Arts District in downtown Michigan City. 4 big tents with 40 local and regional breweries. Fun snow stuff. Fire pits. Ice sculptures. Food trucks. Hammerschlagen. Lots of fun people to have fun with. Event sells out.
Kenny- “Babyface” Edmonds – Feb 17
Prolific songwriter and all-around talented musician and producer, Babyface, brings his smooth voice to Horseshoe Hammond for a concert at The Venue with Jeffrey Osborne. Babyface has a whopping 11 Grammy Awards to his name and has penned 26 number one R&B hits over his storied career. He’s written and produced hits for musicians ranging from Whitney Houston to Lil Wayne to Ariana Grande.

IU Northwest 2018 Science Olympiad Regional Tournament – Feb 17
Thirty-five teams of middle and high school students from 26 schools in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties and surrounding areas will demonstrate their science and engineering talents at the 2018 Science Olympiad Regional Tournament on Saturday, February 17 at Indiana University Northwest.
Fiddlehead after 10 – Feb 17
Starting this Saturday and every Saturday, Fiddlehead will be open throughout the evening for Music, Dancing, with a Special Drink & Food Menu! Open until 2am, Hang out with friends, family and have some fun!
PNW Free Screening of Film, “Victoria and Abdul” – Feb 18
The 2017 film, “Victoria and Abdul”, will be presented 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Michigan City Library, 100 E. Fourth St., Michigan City, through a collaboration between the Purdue University Northwest Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series and the Michigan City Public Library. The screening is free and open to the public.
