PNC Hosts Disc Golf Tournament
Purdue University North Central will host its first-ever Spring Fling disc golf tournament on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m. The event will take place on the new 18-hole course located on the south side of the PNC campus, directly behind the baseball field. The two-round tournament format is open to individuals and teams of all levels including novice, intermediate, advanced and pro.
Fitness Fridays Kicks Off March 30
Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital, the City of La Porte and La Porte County Family YMCA have partnered to provide a newly created weekly non-competitive group for interested walkers and runners or those interested in general fitness. All members of the public are invited to attend Fitness Fridays offered every Friday through September 28. Participants may walk or run along a scenic 5K route that starts in downtown La Porte at the intersection of Maple and Michigan avenues, ventures by the historic homes and down the tree-lined streets of Michigan Avenue, passes through the Beechwood Golf Course and returns back to the Y.
Spring Break Activities at Horizon Gymnastics Center
Horizon Gymnastics ends its Spring Break activities week with Pajamanastics, an overnight at the gym which starts Friday night at 7 pm and continues to 9 am Saturday morning.
Portage Kiwanis to Host Easter Breakfast
The Portage Kiwanis Club will offer an AYCE pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 31st. All proceeds will benefit the Myron Fessler Scholarship fund, as well as, the many projects the club does throughout the year. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Those pictures will be developed for FREE by Walgreens. At 10:00 am children will be able to participate in a FREE Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Real Life Community Church.
Vendor Splendor Show Sale
The Portage American Auxiliary Unit 260 will be hosting its second annual Vendor Splendor Show at the Portage American Legion. The event will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 9 am to 4 pm and will feature a variety of vendors. They will offer cash and carry items, catalog sales and special orders. The public is invited and admission is FREE.

Porter Artist Among Those Participating in Indiana Artisan Marketplace
An artist from the town of Porter is among the more than 100 artisans from across Indiana who will participate in the Indiana Artisan Marketplace, which is March 31 and April 1 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Lynn Retson will join artisans who make everything from fine chocolates, to specialty jewelry to stoneware pottery. The Indiana Artisan Marketplace is a chance to buy one-of-a-kind artwork and artisan food directly from the Hoosiers who make it.
Visclosky to Hold Veterans' Opportunities Fair
Congressman Pete Visclosky will host a Veterans’ Opportunities Fair on March 31, 2012, in Gary. The fair will bring together employers, healthcare organizations, housing assistance providers, and financial services providers, with the goal of providing military veterans information on the support available to them from federal agencies and veterans services organizations, and to alert them to local job opportunities.
The Big Sell Competition
Join business professionals for a day of networking and an opportunity to vote for the next big idea via audience participation. Held at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, this networking day includes breakfast, lunch and snacks.
