Music and movie lovers, rejoice! It's your weekend for fun in Northwest Indiana. Not only is there hundreds of thousands coming out for Pierogi Festival in Whiting, but there are some great opportunities to hear some local musicians do their thing in NWI!

Pierogi Festival 2016 
Pierogi Fest always runs the last full weekend in July. For 2016, that’s the 29th, 30th and 31st. The fest runs from 11am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. You’ll find us jam packed with things like the Polka Dance Off, hosted by our very own Polkahontas and judged by our impartial judges, Mr. Pierogi and Ms. Paczki.

Zao Island Free Concerts:  Beth and Steve  |  Head Honchos 
Zao Island will be presenting some of the area's best original rock, blues, reggae, jazz, and jam bands on Friday and Saturday nights (full bands lineup below). Music from 7-10 p.m. No cover.

Portage Township YMCA Cocoa and Canvas 
Children will be supplied with paint, one canvas, hot cocoa, and cookies. Come to class dressed to get messy!

La Porte County Historical Society 9th Annual Old Car Show 
The La Porte County Historical Society is hosting its 9th Annual Old Car Show on Saturday, July 30th from 9AM-3PM. The Car Show is held on the grounds of the museum located at 2405 Indiana Ave. or Highway 35 at the south entrance to La Porte. The event is open to cars 30 years and older. Nearly one hundred classics, muscle cars, and collectible cars of all eras will be on display outside the museum the day of the show.

Prairie Magic Music Fest 
Porter County Parks and Recreation will be continue to bring high quality, family friendly music events to Sunset Hill Farm County Park this summer. The Prairie Magic Music Fest, financially supported by Indiana Dunes Tourism, is a celebration of rock, bluegrass, folk and Americana music set right in the heart of a beautiful county park. This new festival, set for Saturday, July 30, includes a dynamite initial line up including local acts Fresh Hops and Nicole Jamrose, as well as Nashville favorite Nora Jane Struthers & the Party Line.

Taste of La Porte 
The Civic will once again host this year's Taste of La Porte on Saturday, July 30th, starting at 3pm. Admission is free to all. Come join us for live music, great food and family fun.

10th Annual South Shore Summer Music Festival 
The Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and Music Director/Conductor Kirk Muspratt announce the 2016 South Shore Summer Music Festival. The festival, beginning July 23 and concluding August 13, will feature FREE concerts by the Northwest Indiana Symphony in 5 communities across Northwest Indiana. Come early, bring your lawn chairs and blankets and, relax and enjoy the music! Everyone is welcome.

Movies by Moonlight at Barker Mansion 
A free movie will be shown in the Barker Mansion gardens on July 29 at 8 pm. Guests will view “Metropolis” which is hailed as the most famous and influential silent film ever created. The film, produced in 1927, takes place in the year 2026. The plot depicts a German population divided between workers who must live in the dark underground and the rich who enjoy a futuristic city of splendor, complete with robots. “Metropolis” is suitable for ages 13 and up.

Front Porch Music Festival 
Join Front Porch Music as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary on Sunday, July 31st at Central Park Plaza for the 4th Annual Front Porch Music Festival! General tickets are $15, kids under 12 get in for 5, and tickets for kids 12-18 cost $10 apiece. Enjoy food and a beer garden supplied by Duffy's Bar! There will be kids activities at this great opportunity to support local msuic.

Polka at the Pav 
Dance the afternoon away to the sounds of the fantastic live polka band, Tonly Blazonczyk’s New Phaze, while you sit back, relax, and enjoy the gorgeous views of Wolf Lake. Admission and parking are free.
