It's time to bust out the sparklers, wear something patriotic, and host the American flag high - The Fourth of July is here! Before the fireworks are launched on Tuesday we have some great local events to help you celebrate Independence Day. There are parades and festivals in several counties this weekend. Some weekend long Festivals included the Cedar Lake Summerfest, The Highland Fourth of July Festival, and the Hobart Jaycee Fest.  There are also tons of music events to catch including ValpoLife Live Music at Zao Island, The Lighting Bug Music Festival, the 85th Army Band Independence Day Holiday Concert, and more. Don't miss out on these events happening in Northwest Indiana!

Cedar Lake Summerfest
Each year, more than 20,000 people attend the Cedar Lake Summerfest on the shore of the 800 acre lake. There is live entertainment, food, fireworks, amusement rides, car shows, beer garden and more!

Highland 4th of July Festival
The Annual and popular July 4th Festival is held at Town Hall Main Square Park. There will be Art and craft booths, and food vendors along with live entertainment every day, carnival rides, a parade, and live bands every day. Check the link for the full schedule!

Hobart Jaycee Fest
Many of the area's favorite bands will perform at this year's Jaycee Fest, which will take place Friday - Monday. This year the Fest will be held at the Brickie Bowl.

Michigan City Kiddie Parade
The Michigan City Kiddie Parade is set for Friday, June 30th. The parade will travel from 7th St. north of Franklin Square to 4th Street, ending in front of the library. After the parade, we will be serving free hot dogs, chips, and drinks to all the participants and their parents. After that, we will provide free frozen treats to all participants!

Gatsby at the Gardens
Head to Friendship Botanic Gardens in Michigan City and take yourself back to the 1920's and 1930's, for a Great Gatsby Garden Party! Stroll the gardens and enjoy your cocktails while listening to live music, playing lawn games like bocce ball and tug of war and maybe even do some dancing!

ValpoLife Live Music on the Island
The Zao Island Summer Concert Series showcases Zao Island's expanded and upgraded indoor and outdoor venues and will feature a huge lineup of some of the best local bands around. Each weekend, music lovers can enjoy live music on the island, and if it rains, the show will go on with performances on Zao Island's new indoor stage.

Michigan City Patriotic Parade
Celebrate Independence Day and America’s Heroes in beautiful Michigan City, Indiana! This year's Patriotic Parade will be held on Saturday, July 1 and starts at 11 AM CST. The parade route will run along Franklin Street, beginning on the corner of Arthur and Franklin and will end on Detroit and Franklin.

Lightning Bug Music Festival
The Lightning Bug Music Festival, the premier event of the summer, returns on Sunday, July 2nd from noon until dusk with an amazing array of talent. This much anticipated day-long family celebration for music lovers continues to thrill fans of all ages.

Portage Summer Music Series at Founders Square Park Presents David Sanchez
Attention Santana fans--head for Portage, Indiana! David Sanchez will pay tribute to the music of Santana on July 2nd, from 1:00-2:30 p.m., on the new Indiana-American Water Amphitheater stage in Founders Square Park in Portage!

85th Army Band Independence Day Holiday Concert
Celebrate our nation’s independence with a United States Military Band Concert at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Join the 85th Army Band, stationed out of Arlington Heights, Illinois, for a free concert on the beach at the national lakeshore’s West Beach.
