23rd Annual Hobart Lakefront Festival Comes to Festival Park August 14-17 
Hobart's Festival Park will play host this weekend to the 23rd Annual Hobart Lakefront Festival! This four-day event features live entertainment, an arts and crafts area, food vendors, and a beer garden. The Lakefront Festival is also proud to host the Hobart Chamber of Commerce Pig Roast and Hobart Community Foundation’s Dam Duck Race on Sunday afternoon.

Second Annual GLOW: Art after Dark at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens August 14 through 16 
Taltree Arboretum & Gardens invites guests to enjoy fun in the dark August 14 through 16. GLOW: Art after Dark will feature live glow-in-the-dark art and music performances and interactive exhibits such as DreamWeaver, Your Wish for the Environment. Kid-friendly activities include night hikes, glow-in-the-dark crafts, stargazing with Calumet Astronomical Society and glow-in-the-dark body paint.

Summer Rhapsody Concert - Highway Band 
On Friday, August 15th, the Highway Band will close out the Valparaiso Events' Summer Rhapsody Concert Series! Located in the heart of downtown Valparaiso, the Summer Rhapsody Concerts make for a lovely evening or the perfect date night. Dine in one of Valpo’s many excellent restaurants or pack a picnic dinner, then head over to Central Park Plaza for a night of music and culture.

True BBQ & Whiskey Bar Live Music
True BBQ & Whiskey Bar not only brings you great food and drinks, but quality entertainment as well. Every Friday, there will be live entertainment on the patio from 8:30 p.m - 11:30 p.m. and live DJs from 10 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the Whiskey Bar. August 15th - Greg Guidotti

2014 Lubeznik Center for the Art's Lakefront Art Festival - August 16 & 17 
This year's event brings over 100 fine artists and craftspeople from across the country. Enjoy shopping for one-of-a-kind items in a variety of different price ranges. Admission is only $4 for adults, while children under 12 and active military with CACDD1173 card are admitted free. Proceeds from the Festival provide support for Lubeznik Center's after-school and summer art instruction reaching over 1200 economically disadvantaged children. Additionally, LCA mounts 9 contemporary exhibitions annually. And over 25000 benefit from LCA programs each year.

La Porte County Historical Society to Hold Family Fun Day on August 16 
Summer is winding down. What better way to beat the Back-to-School Blues than some fun at the local museum!! On Saturday August 16th the La Porte County Historical Society will be having a Family Fun Day on the grounds of the museum, located on Hwy. 35 at the south entrance to La Porte. Special admission for the day will be $5 per carload. This includes all the outdoor activities as well as admission into the museum, from 10A.M. to 3P.M. that day only.

Shirley Heinze Land Trust Hike Program 
This year marks thirty years of guided hikes sponsored by Shirley Heinze Land Trust. The schedule for the remaining events in the 2014 hike series is as follows: Saturday, August 16, 2014. Native Pollinators Hike. Cressmoor Prairie, Hobart, Indiana. 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m

Green Screen, Beer Garden at Party in the Park on August 16 
More than 800 Duneland area residents and visitors are expected to attend the 9th Annual Party in the Park event to be held this Saturday, August 16, from 5pm-9pm in Thomas Centennial Park in the heart of historic downtown Chesterton. Wrist bands will be available for purchase at the event ticket booth, which will be located behind the fountain within Thomas Centennial Park. Adult tickets are $5 per person, and children 2 years of age and under will be admitted to the event free of charge.

2014 Portage Community Market 
The Portage Community Market will be held every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning June 1st and ending September 28th. Come and get great produce, crafts, and other items that come from local farms and businesses! Due to the construction of Founder’s Square, it will be held at Woodland Park for the 2014 season.

NIETF Presents “Theatrepalooza” Free Theatre Festival 
Are you ready to be entertained? Do you need a good laugh or a moment to ponder? The region will shine with the glow of the spotlight as you sit back, laugh, and awe at the amazing talents of local actors during the inaugural “Theatrepalooza” Sunday, August 17 from 3-5 p.m in the Reinhart Auditorium of Merrillville High School
