More than two dozen junior golfers age 12 and under participated in the Creekside Classic for Kids Skills competition on July 19 at Creekside Golf Course and Training Center in Valparaiso. Juniors competed in six skill areas and the winners were:
Eight and Under:
- Putt – Corrine Oswald
- Chip – Corrine Oswald
- Pitch – Levi Simms
- Sand – Rex Samardzija
- Longest Drive – Levi Simms
- Three Hole play– Corrine Oswald
Nine and Ten Year Olds:
- Putt – Nick Perry
- Chip – Blake Cullen
- Pitch – Ainsley Vice
- Sand – Brooklyn Hudson
- Long drive – Chase Young
- Three Hole play – Luke Drozd
Eleven and Twelve Year Olds:
- Putt – Trevor Freeman
- Chip – Norah Rossmann
- Pitch – Norah Rossmann
- Sand – Faith Lee
- Long drive – Ian Stacy
- Three Hole – Norah Rossmann
The afternoon 12-hole scramble, which consists of two adults and two juniors in each foursome, was won by TEAM STACY-HALL with junior golfers Dakota Stacy and Ian Stacy, paired with JR Hall and Paul Stacy with a score of 37. Second place finish went to team FAMILY EXPRESS with junior golfers Andrew Karr and Mark Civanich, paired with Evan Kroft and Tom Navarre with a score of 38. Placing third with a 39 was GARIUP CONSTRUCTION consisting of junior players Norah Rossmann and Bo Smith and adults Brian Rossmann and Brad Werner.
This one of a kind outing gives kids an opportunity to play in a real shotgun start, best ball outing. The Classic for Kids benefits the Valpo Parks Foundation in its mission to continue the quality of the community parks system. The 2019 Creekside Classic will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019.
