Wheeler High School athletes have competed at exceptional levels of performance throughout this school year, including sports such as football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, track and field, golf, swimming, bowling, and many others. Wheeler High School track and field athletes have especially shined during Sectionals. The Wheeler boys’ track teams crowned two sectional champions last night, with Derek Bertucci winning the discus throw and Jacob Wasz winning the long jump. Additionally, the boys’ team also qualified Jesiah Lee on to Regionals in the 100-meter dash. The 4x1 team of Jacob Wasz, Jesiah Lee, Jason Novak, and Sam Turpin broke the school record and qualified as well. Likewise, the 4x8 team of Aiden Hostetler, Joel O'Shea, Danilo Orlich, and Matt Stephenson are moving on to Regionals, with Joel O'Shea moving on to Regionals in the 3200 meter. Great job to everyone!

Wheeler High School boys competed outstandingly at Regionals as well. Hosted by Valparaiso High School, three track athletes qualified for the State Finals. Jacob Wasz was the regional champion in the long jump, Jason Novak was the regional runner-up in the long jump, and Jesiah Lee qualified via his time in the 100-meter dash. We all wish them the best of luck as they compete Saturday, June 4th at the IHSAA State Finals in Bloomington!
