2017 Process for VCS School Board Appointment

valpo-community-schoolsApplicants must be 21 years of age and residents of the City of Valparaiso. State statute requires that the board must have at least one member from each political party. This year, party affiliation does not matter.

Application forms will be available on the city’s website and at the City Hall Clerk/Treasurer’s office. Applications are due by 4 P.M. WEDNESDAY, MAY 17 AT THE CITY HALL CLERK/TREASURER’S OFFICE. No on-line applications will be accepted.

At the April 10 City Council meeting, Dr. Frataccia will deliver the 2017 State of the Schools Report. Members of the community are invited to that meeting to share their questions, comments, or concerns about the short term, long term, and/or immediate goals as set forth in the report.

In Executive Session on May 17, the City Council will select five applicants to interview. Finalists will be notified on May 18 or 19.

TWO interviews will be held prior to regularly scheduled City Council meetings. In the first interview on MONDAY, MAY 22, City Council members will ask questions. The public may attend, but may not participate. The second interview will be on MONDAY, JUNE 26. At this meeting, applicants will be asked questions from the public following which the City Council will make its selection of the new VCS School Board Member.
