Twenty Chesterton High School students have been nominated as the 2018 CHS Football Homecoming royalty candidates.
The five students nominated for queen are seniors Stephanie Archbald, Jordan Bush, Lorann Lombardini and Jamie Stento and junior Caroline Liapes; and five for princess are sophomores McKenna Guernsey and Nalani Malackowski, and freshmen Madison Ellis, Marleigh Napier and Paige Newland.
Archbald, daughter of Tom and Theresa Keilman of Chesterton, is a member of National Honor Society (NHS), and is active in Cross Country, Advanced Orchestra and Peer Tutoring.
Bush, daughter of Nathan and Tanya Bush of Chesterton, is in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and is active in Gymnastics, Student Athletic Council, German Club, Interact Club and NHS.
Ellis, daughter of Reed and Lisa Ellis of Valparaiso, is active in Track and Gymnastics and enjoys doing art.
Guernsey, daughter of Angela and Greg Guernsey of Valparaiso, is active in Varsity Volleyball.
Liapes, daughter of Shelly and Chuck Liapes of Chesterton, is active in Varsity Soccer and Eclipse Soccer Club.
Lombardini, daughter of Rebecca and Dean Lombardini of Porter, is a member of NHS, and is active in Varsity Volleyball, Peer Tutoring. She is also involved in YMCA Youth Charity events and Ignite Elite Volleyball, and is an L&M Photography Ambassador.
Malackowski, daughter of Hem and Doug Malackowski of Chesterton, is active in Varsity Cross Country, Basketball and Track. She is also active in StuGov and is a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and Business Professionals of America (BPA).
Napier is the daughter of Dawn Stano and William Rajski of Valparaiso.
Newland, daughter of Melissa Carl and James Newland of Burns Harbor, is active in Track and is currently training for a 15k in November. She also works, volunteers and is president of Keystone at the Duneland Boys and Girls Club in Chesterton.
Stento, daughter of Kim and Bernie Stento of Porter, is active in Gymnastics, Track, and Student Athletic Training, and is a member of the NHS and Interact Club.

Casbon, son of Scott and Janet Casbon of Porter, is active on the swim team and the Duneland Swim Club.
Chandler, son of Byron and Jennifer Chandler of Chesterton, is active in Football and Track.
Cole, son of Michelle Palko and Josh Cole of Porter, is active in Chesterton Lacrosse and Track.
Fletcher, son of Beth and Brian Fletcher of Valparaiso, is a member of the Trojan Guard, US Chess Federation and French club.
Malackowski, son of Hem and Doug Malackowski of Chesterton, is the school Mascot, StuGov vice president, and is active in Baseball, BPA, NHS, Quizbowl, Student Athletic Advisory committee and Spikeball club.
Nagra, son of Vince and Ruby Nagra of Chesterton, is a member of NHS and is active in Spikeball club and Interact club
Slatcoff, son of Marc Slatcoff and grandson of Linda Slatcoff of Valparaiso, is active in football and track.
Schmiegel, son of Diane and Kurt Schmiegel of Valparaiso, is active in Swimming and Choir. He is a member of the French, Spanish and Japanese Clubs; NHS, Spikeball Club, Surf Club and enjoys participating in school musicals and Intramural Frisbee.
Turner, son of Amy and Kirk Turner of Chesterton is active in both CHS Baseball and travel baseball.
Wong, son of Kwan and Yu Fei Wong of Chesterton, is active in tennis, Science Olympiad, Quiz Bowl, Speech and Debate and is the CHS International Baccalaureate program.
The CHS homecoming royalty will be chosen on Friday, Sept. 21 at halftime at the homecoming football game against Portage. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 from the Chesterton Middle School Pool Parking Lot. The parade route will continue east on Porter Ave to Calumet, Calumet to Broadway, Broadway to 6th Street and back to CMS.
