My wife and I put in whole house vacuum years ago and the only part of it that we really use is the toe kick in the kitchen. A toe kick permits you to sweep up your kitchen floor into the toe kick and it sucks up all the crumbs and deposits them in the large container in the basement. We love that feature and would never live without it.
A large island or a double island is such a fun way to involve all who are enjoying the meal that is being prepared. To be able to enjoy the company of others and to let some of them prepare the meal makes the evening such great time. There is nothing better than wine and shrimp scampi around the island that often is as good as the evening meal.
