8 Killer Features in Your Kitchen

Here are eight killer features to consider when planning out your design for an amazing kitchen.

Tiled backsplash. What a great way to add beauty and warmth to your kitchen. If you like to cook, tile makes it easy to clean splatters of all kinds. A tile backsplash provides a relatively inexpensive way to enhance your kitchen to a whole other level.

The newest design in kitchens is to install light and dark cabinets together for a clean and distinct look. Often times light cabinets for your upper cabinets and dark units for the base units looks oh so good.

Granite tops are such a fabulous look and wear in a kitchen. The costs of granite have come way down and you are installing a product that will last for many years. The selections and color combinations are almost unending these days, make sure that you view the entire slab before ordering your granite. Most companies have a wide variety of slabs and will let you pick the one that fits your tastes.

My wife and I put in whole house vacuum years ago and the only part of it that we really use is the toe kick in the kitchen. A toe kick permits you to sweep up your kitchen floor into the toe kick and it sucks up all the crumbs and deposits them in the large container in the basement. We love that feature and would never live without it.

A large island or a double island is such a fun way to involve all who are enjoying the meal that is being prepared. To be able to enjoy the company of others and to let some of them prepare the meal makes the evening such great time. There is nothing better than wine and shrimp scampi around the island that often is as good as the evening meal.

Walk in pantries have been around for awhile but they are so valuable to a usable kitchen. They give you tons of storage for food items and kitchen appliances that are very functional but not real desirable to be seen.

Roll out trash bins are so convenient and easy to use but yet the trash and recycling are completely out of sight. A trash bin beside the kitchen sink is a must!

Specialty and well made cabinets make your kitchen a pleasure to use for many years. Dovetail drawers that are soft close will last for many years of family life. A pizza pan cabinet beside the stove is perfect for convenience and won’t break the bank. Spice racks in a cabinet make clawing around for the right seasoning obsolete. Built in wine racks and glass door fronts will cost you some but they add a special touch to the kitchen. There are many cool specialty cabinets available so make sure you look into them before installing a new kitchen.
