There’s a lot to be said about the magic Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service has created for their clients over the last two decades. People like Joyce Beck - who are the the heartbeat of the company - make all the magic come to life.
Beck is a veteran in the bulk mail industry. Prior to Flanagin’s, she processed bulk mail for several post offices throughout Porter and Jasper counties. She officially joined the Flanagin’s team about a decade ago to process bulk mail there, but she has supported the company from its start.
“When Donna [founder and CEO of Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service] started her business and came to the post office for her mailing permit, I was the one who issued it to her,” Beck said.
Shortly after, Beck resigned from her position at the post office to raise her four kids. As her kids grew older, she was eager to get back to work.
“I remembered how Donna started her business and I thought, ‘Well, I know a little bit about that. I wonder if she needs help?’ When I walked in the door Donna said ‘Tell me you’re here for a job,’ and I’ve been here ever since,” she said.
When Beck gave her future employer her mailing permit that day at the post office, she had no idea how much Flanagin would help pave the course of her career.
“Anyone who’s met Donna knows how awesome she is,” Beck said. “If you know Donna and you look around at the experience she’s created for her business, why wouldn’t you want to work here? It’s awesome.”
When she’s not processing mail, you can find Beck spoiling her 2-year-old grandson, and enjoying time with her husband either camping or at their vacation home down South.
“I babysit my grandson every chance I get,” Beck said. “My husband and I love to vacation. During the warmer months, we set our camper up at our permanent camping spot at France Park in Logansport, Indiana. We’re there just about every weekend at that time of the year. When it’s wintertime, my husband and I haul it down to our vacation home in Guntersville, Alabama. We try and go down there for about 10 days or so every chance we get.”
The great outdoors keep them coming back week after week during the warmer months.
“The park has hundreds of acres of golf cart trails, fishing, disc golf, a beach, and there is horseback riding in the area,” Beck said.
“We found out about the park a while back when my husband and I really wanted to go camping, within an hour of our home. After some searching online, I found out about France Park. Our first time, we were a little skeptical,” she joked, “but we really liked it and never left.”
