McAfee Animal Hospital technician Jessica Janda believes everyone should have a strong passion for what they do. She has taken this advice and followed her internal compass, which led her to the veterinarian field.
“I always knew I was going to work with animals from a young age,” she said.
Janda put her passion into practice her senior year of high school. In 2016, she started an internship with McAfee Animal Hospital to learn the ins and outs of the career. After her incredible experience, Janda went on to get her registered veterinary technician degree and become certified. There was something that made the job so special to her.
“Once I got my certification, I decided to go back to McAfee, and now I continue to work there a year later.”
Janda says there is never a dull moment at McAfee Animal Hospital. Employees are constantly on their feet, taking care of pets, and talking to clients.
“Along with that, I’m also taking blood draws, X-rays, taking temperatures...there is a lot to it,” she said.
But Janda wouldn’t want it any other way. She has fallen in love with the facility, her co-workers, and her career.
“The reason I love McAfee so much is that no clinic, in my opinion, shows as much passion and love as we do. You’re never going to find TLC like you find at McAfee.”
The love does not stop there. Janda also enjoys working with her clients to ensure that they receive the best care for their pet.
“Seeing the bond that owners have with their pets...it’s a very precious gift to me and that's why I do what I do,” she said.
Janda is continuing to gain skills in the veterinary field and has established goals for herself to reach in the near future.
“My main goal is to help as many pets and owners as I can. I would like to specialize in rehabilitation or physical therapy for animals.”
When she is not helping other animals, Janda is spending time with her own pets and hiking with her dogs. She also likes to fish and kayak in her free time.
