Founded in 1981, Family House is a nonprofit organization in Porter County, which serves as a supervised home where families can come together for visits in situations where a divorce, substance abuse, violence, or other crisis has impacted a family. The organization provide supervision so families and the courts can be sure that a child is safe during the visit. Staff members combine compassion with strength to protect children. Family House also provides supervised transfers in divorce situations where custody or visitation may be shared, reducing the need for interaction in negative relationships. Last year Family House served more than 160 families. For more information or to donate to Family House, visit www.family-houseinc.org.
