From Thursday, June 24 through Sunday, June 27, the businesses of Valparaiso, Portage and Chesterton will be contributing to the development of OE Lakeside - Opportunity Enterprises’ expansion project on Lake Eliza. Businesses will be asking you, their customers, to donate to OE Lakeside by either “rounding up” your purchases to the nearest dollar and donating the spare change or by purchasing an “OE Lakeside tree” for $1 that will be proudly displayed in the business.
Due to a matching grant, you have a unique opportunity to double your impact. For the next year, every dollar given to OE Lakeside will be matched by the Dean and Barbara White Family foundation up to $2,000,000.
Please support the following establishments with your business from June 24 through June 27 and decide to Build OE Lakeside:
- Blackbird Cafe
- Cornucopia
- Franklin House
- Pass Times
- South Bend Chocolate Factory
- Walmart
If you would like your business to participate, please contact Michelle Andres at m.andres@group7even.com or at 219.476.3704.
About OE Lakeside:
OE Lakeside is the newest venture of Opportunity Enterprises - a Valparaiso nonprofit that serves people with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injuries, severe physical and mental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, loss of limbs, and other challenges. OE cares for and supports people from birth to death, literally from infancy and young adulthood through the twilight years as senior citizens. OE Lakeside is an amazing project. In 2007, OE acquired 158 acres of land on Lake Eliza in Porter County. There were a few existing facilities on the property, and OE promptly renovated them and moved 100 of their clients on site to work in this lush, natural setting, nestled between oaks and maples on the shore of a peaceful lake.
Now, OE is going to expand this facility and the vision is amazing. OE Lakeside will include:
- 45 affordable, accessible, integrated apartments
- Classroom and community enrichment spaces for disabled adults to engage in art, music, technology, reading, and therapeutic activities
- Park-like enhancements including accessible lakefront, a sandy beach, equipment for water activities, accessible nature trails, handicap-accessible playgrounds and picnic shelters
- And much more ...
Please join us in the pursuit of this dream. Visit www.oelakeside.org for more information.
Thank you for helping Build OE Lakeside.
