BFMS B Basketball Roundup vs. River Forest

The boys 7th grade B Team ran their record to 7 & 1 on Tuesday night by defeating River Forest 37-33.

The Ingots made it difficult on the Vikes by throwing various zone defenses at us. This was the first time all year we faced zone defenses and the offense struggled in executing the zone offense. A few adjustments were made at halftime which made the offense more effective and key 3-point shots helped the Vikes pull out the victory.

The team was led by Andrew Lehnen with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Kyle Kaminski & Daniel Gholston each added 7, Tony Carpenter scored 4, Jake Pancek 3, Eric Yiankes and Jacob Wallace chipped in with 2 apiece. Dan Wimberley led the team with 5 rebounds, Daniel Gholston grabbed 4 while swatting away 5 shots! Joining the team for their first game of the season was Ryan Wexelberg, Dominic Snemis and Matt Emerson. All 3 played very well for their first action of the season and contributed to the win.

The B Team will be hosting their annual BF Tournament this Saturday. We sure could use a strong home crowd so plan on attending.

The 8th grade “B” team avenged one of its losses last year by smelting the Ingots of River Forest 54 to 28. Neil Whitfield had an all-around strong game, firing in 14 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists. Serph Decker contributed to the pounding by adding 8 points and 3 steals. In addition, Jacob Bekelya sunk 7points, while Jake Catarello ripped down 6 rebounds and swiped 3 steals. Andrew Mears also stoked the Green Machine defense with 3 steals.

The “B” team doesn’t play again until it hosts a tourney this Saturday. Hope you can come out and support both the 7th and 8th grade teams.
