Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Kicks Off Annual Campaign with 40th Anniversary Celebrations

BGC-Krug-SnyderPortage Township Schools Superintendent Michael Berta was honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County for his longtime support of the Clubs’ work at the “Red Carpet 40th Anniversary Celebration” held at the Portage 16 IMAX on Thursday, March 22, 2012. As a special memento, Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Youth of the Year, Brian Krug, a senior at Portage High School and member of the South Haven Boys & Girls Club, presented Berta with a framed photograph he took as part of a regional arts competition.

Portage and South Haven community and business representatives, including Portage Mayor James Snyder, attended the “Red Carpet 40th Anniversary Celebration”. In addition to remarks from Berta and Mayor Snyder, guests were treated to an “exclusive” showing of a stop-motion short film created by members of the South Haven Boys & Girls Club and a “behind the scenes” tour of the theater.

The “Red Carpet 40th Anniversary Celebration” is part of a series of 40th anniversary events being held during the Spring launching the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s “It Just Takes One” fundraising campaign. The 2012 goal is to raise $195,000 for the Clubs’ annual operating expenses necessary to provide the quality programs and services to nearly 5,000 children and their families throughout Porter County.
