Boys and Girls Clubs Learn to Reach their Full Potential with Robbie Hummel

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Porter County provide a fun and safe environment for kids all over the area. On Thursday, September 30, the 11th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner was held at the Expo Center in Valparaiso. Over 60 sponsors from Porter County and the region donated items for the silent auction and provided donations directly.

The silent auction kicked off the night with items auctioned including autographed jerseys, pictures of players, footballs, and basketballs from professional players. Then David Hollenbeck, the Board Chairman of Porter County B&G Clubs, welcomed everyone to the dinner. Dinner prayer was given and the eating began. Kids that are members of the clubs enjoyed dinner with the different sponsors. The silent auction closed and the raffle winners were announced. Dawn Williams, the 2010 Indiana Youth of the Year, introduced Robbie Hummel, who was the main speaker of the evening.

Robbie starts as a player for the Purdue basketball team. He has led the team to the March Madness tournament. He graduated from Valparaiso High School and played basketball at the Boys and Girls Club in Valpo. His speech challenged kids to be the best they can be and to “Reach their Full Potential.” Chuck Leer, President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Porter County, closed the evening thanking everyone for their support. The evening raised funds for kids to continue to have a safe place to be and grow to “Reach Their Full Potential.”
