BucherTech looks to award over $20,000 in IT goods & services to nonprofits with IT Grant Program

Applications open July 1

Bucher Technologies (BucherTech) will soon be accepting applications for its annual IT grant program. The Valparaiso-based IT solutions and managed service provider will award grants, based on need, of IT products and services to nonprofits across Northwest Indiana.

Tim Bucher, founder of BucherTech, created the grant program in 2019 as part of his mission to help organizations around the Region “stop living like IT paupers.” Since then, BucherTech has distributed over $50,000 in IT products and services to nonprofits that were struggling to meet modern IT standards. The grant is designed to address specific needs, and organizations have used it for new laptops, phones, video conferencing systems, networking upgrades, printers, and more.

“The community has blessed us, so we’re excited to give back,” Bucher said. “There are so many worthy organizations out there that are doing what they can to help people who are hurting. If we can step up and use our expertise to help those organizations, then that’s our purpose as far as I’m concerned. Last year, we received more applications than ever, which is exciting because it means we can help more people.”

Bucher’s goal is to reach a wide variety of organizations that meet a number of different community needs. Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit around Northwest Indiana is eligible for the grant, which can cover up to $3,000 in products and services. Some of last year’s winners include:

  • Heritage Lutheran Church: Used their BucherTech grant to improve the Wi-Fi connectivity of their church.
  • Sojourner Truth House: Used its BucherTech grant to replace two outdated laptops with new ones to better assist its clients.
  • Gabriel’s Horn Homeless Shelter: BucherTech provided new computers that Gabriel’s Horn now uses to help its clients find jobs.

In total, BucherTech distributed $22,000 in products and services to nonprofits in need through its 2023 grant cycle. Bucher is targeting a similar total this year.

BucherTech will begin accepting applications on July 1. An online application is available at buchertech.com/grant-application. All applications should include a description of your nonprofit and its mission as well as a specific statement of need (such as outdated or broken computers, poor networking equipment, etc.), and a summary of what goals addressing this need would help your organization fulfill.
