Valparaiso’s Bucher Technologies (BucherTech) is now accepting applications for its annual IT grant program, awarding up to five grants of $2,500 each in IT products and services to Region nonprofits.
Created in 2019, this program allows BucherTech to provide aid to local nonprofit organizations struggling to keep their IT current by helping them address specific needs. Since BucherTech Founder Tim Bucher launched the initiative, the company has awarded over $20,000 in grants, going towards needs such as laptops, charging stations, video conferencing systems, phone systems, and more.
“There’s a lot of people out in our community that need help in so many ways,” Bucher said. “Too many of the nonprofit organizations that help them are stuck working with old, outdated IT systems. We don’t want them operating as IT paupers when they’re out there helping people who are hurting.”
Some of the organizations that have received BucherTech’s IT grant in the past are Hilltop Neighborhood House, Kids Alive International, Meals on Wheels of Lake County, and Family Concern Counseling. Recipients do not need to be Valparaiso-based – any 501c3 nonprofit in Northwest Indiana is eligible.
A simple online application is available online at buchertech.com/grant-application. Applications must be received by September 15, 2022, either through the web page or by email to grant@buchertech.com. Each application should include a description of your nonprofit’s mission and purpose, a specific statement of need (i.e. a faulty phone system, outdated/broken laptops/computers), and what specific goals and objectives addressing this need will help your organization fulfill.
Grant winners will be announced within the first week of October, with implementation happening in Q4. To learn more about BucherTech or to apply online, visit buchertech.com.
