Enjoy this weekend at the grand opening of Bulldog Park in Crown Point for a jam-packed two-day event that will have you ear to ear as you start the summer! Both days will include live music, food and craft vendors, adult beverages and children’s activities.
Diana Bosse, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Crown Point, helped us break down the exciting weekend.
On Friday, May 31, start the celebration at the official ribbon cutting of Bulldog Park at 5:45 p.m., on the amphitheater stage. As the sun begins to set, start jamming at 6 p.m. to the band Breaking Dawn, who will play until 10 p.m. Enjoy food and drink vendors alongside a beer truck, too!
On Saturday, June 1, explore Crown Point’s summer Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., marking the market’s inaugural opening at its new permanent home in Bulldog Park . The new location will allow for an even larger Farmer’s Market experience in Crown Point.
“This year we have expanded the Farmer’s Market to two days a week instead of one. We have incorporated a Wednesday evening from 4-8 p.m., and will continue with our Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1p.m.,” Bosse said.
South Main Street, the previous home of the Farmer’s Market, will now have more room for community member foot traffic to explore downtown businesses.
“The idea is to see the Farmer’s Market grow,” Bosse said. “There’s so much space at the park, and now we don’t have to close the main road. The entire market and vendors will be under the pavilion, which will help with unpredictable weather conditions.”
The park is still accepting vendors for the grand opening and throughout the summer. There are a variety of options for vendors. Those interested can contact the City of Crown Point Special Events Department at 219-662-3290.
. Bosse said the event will host a variety of vendors, including some local businesses and restaurants, home-styled roasted coffee from Steamwhistle Coffee Roasters, clothing from LulaRoe, and more.
On Saturday, plant trees at 10 a.m., and partake in other Arbor Day-styled activities with the community. That evening groove starts with Positive Vibe Technicians from 6-8 p.m., and patrons can rock out to alternative 90s-influenced band Dirt Born from 8-10 p.m.
“We are very excited for what Bulldog Park will bring for business owners, residents, and the community itself,” Bosse said. “It’s a great addition to support downtown businesses.”
Join the community this weekend to celebrate a piece of history at the opening of the City of Crown Point’s Bulldog Park!
