In his classic exposition on Christian discipleship, Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) said, "The physical presence of other Christians is an incomparable source of strength to the believer." As I sat outside in Central Park on Monday afternoon enjoying an ice-cold coffee with one of our elders, I was reminded of just how important this truth is. We shared our blessings and burdens, spoke words of encouragement to each other, and prayed together.
At Calvary we believe that Life Together is vitally important. That's why we gather every Sunday for worship. That is why we have a vibrant ministry to children, where they can get together! That's why we have one of the most vibrant student ministries programs in NWI. That's why we encourage people to get involved in a LifeGroup. That's why we encourage people to serve one another and the local community.
I met 27 new people at Coffee with the Pastors on Sunday! And almost every one of them told us they came to Calvary because they were invited by a friend. Keep on witnessing! Children ages 8-12 interested in baptism or the fundamentals of Christian faith are ready for Starting Point for Kids. Parents are encouraged to attend this 4-week course with their child(ren). Sign up online or at the Children's Welcome Center.
