Calvary Link: Our Team

Calvary-God-SongsRizzo, Bryant, Russell, Baez, Zobrist. What do these guys have in common? They are all part of the same team. You’ll see their names emblazoned on the back of their Cubs jerseys. As good as they are, the 5 of them alone would never win a game without the rest of the team. Five players is not enough to win a baseball game.

While I was on vacation (and enjoying some baseball) I thought about how much the church is like a team. You may recognize a few of our names—Young, Lackey, Felsman, Reasoner, Nitta, Peasley, but we try to keep our names off the backs of our uniforms. It’s not about any one individual. We are part of the same team and we need everyone if we are going to win!

Father’s Day in the Park, Vacation Bible School (what a week!), Pursuit women’s gatherings, Men’s Bible Studies, Life Groups (adults and students), mission’s trips to New Orleans, Uganda, and Guatemala, and our amazing weekend gatherings all happen because we are committed to giving, serving, and praying together for the purpose of “winning” more people to Christ—and helping them become like him.

I so love being part of this team. Looking forward to being with you this Sunday!

Speaking of Team
Jesus said, "Go and make disciples..." and he made it a team effort. We're in this together, church! Find out how you can serve the church at Discovering Serve Teams or on the Serve Teams page.

This Sunday we're getting a visit from our South African partner Bethesda Outreach Ministries. Come meet the team in room 108 at 9:45a as they share how our partnership is changing lives!

A huge THANK YOU! YOU'RE AMAZING! to the Vacation Bible School team for the creative vision, hard work, and commitment to changing kid's lives forever. Below is VBS coordinator Kristen Cunningham (bottom window of the rocket) and some of the team.
